Trend Alert:lovely Lace

I’m obsessed about lace! Think boudoir and vintage-inspired. Also, the sugary sweet lace, along with a mix of brocades and sheer organzas, were executed in a variety of posh shapes.

How can you incorporate these pretty pieces into your look? Hint: don't hold back. A little risk-taking goes a long way in this case. Plus, the delicate fabric adds a bit of a safety net, no matter how bright the hue.

Look of the Day

Winter’s finally creeping in slowly here in Dubai but I’m a sucker for vintage print t-shirts. Today I decided to channel in to  the whole statement t-shirt trend for Spring/Summer 2014 with these Campbell ‘s soup t-shirt  I bought at a vintage store in New York. I paired it with these my favourite 7 for all mankind jeans, Maroon suede Jimmy Choo stilettos, and my favourite wardrobe staple -  a grey Prada bag. It’s so versatile and goes with everything J

One to Watch – Stella Jean

I’m super excited about this designer. Stella Jean has led something fairytale fashion life recently - with Giorgio Armani as her supporter. She won Vogue Italia's Who's On Next talent contest in 2011 and her dresses have been selling out at Matches.com for the past two seasons.

Born in Rome and of Haitian descent, Stella Jean’s aesthetic is a combination of her Creole heritage and precise Italian craftsmanship. Look out for statement ethnic prints and voluminous silhouettes wax prints (which is close to home for me) and displayed glittering pineapples, avocados, parrots and zebra - a truly chic tribute to their West African origins.

Her collection is currently available worldwide at Matches (London),  Jacques Loup (France), Lo Spazio (Saudi Arabia), Cocktail (Hong Kong), Salmiya (Kuwait), Webster (USA), and at very own Symphony Style (Dubai).

Expect great think from this designer seasons to come.

Fashion Illustrations: António Soares

Fashion photography may have trumped illustration a while back, but hand sketching is anything but dead. The blogosphere is full of talented artists who take runway looks, magazine editorials, and street style images and reinterpret them by hand into whimsical creations.

I saw these images floating around on a few online sites and I just had to share.
Portuguese illustrator António Soares creates hand-drawn watercolor illustrations based on the fashion designer patterns and colors of the season. I absolutely love! Love! Love!

Beauty Notes...

Just wanted to share a little beauty tip I learnt over the years. Hydrated skin "holds" fragrance much longer than dry skin, and opting for a same-brand lotion makes for easy scent pairing.
Most fragrances have a prominent base note that is floral, citrusy, earthy or sweet. Identify the base note of your aroma, to avoid clashing with other scented products, and layer accordingly.
I personally love Marc Jacobs Honey Radiant Body Lotion and Eau de Parfum both available at sephora.com.

The Power of Statement Accessories!

Beauty Watch!

This got me super excited! London College of Fashion alumna BSc (Hons) Cosmetic Science graduate, Florence Adepoju, has set up premium beauty brand, MDMflow, after receiving funding and support from UAL’s SEED and Start-Up schemes. I think this is the coolest concept and accessory, street beauty for the youth.

I'm so in love! Pastels, and pumped up fondant shades were seen across countless runways in all four fashion cities. Wear head to toe for an off-kilter take on girly.
